Richard and I love going to High Cotton. The original High Cotton is here in Charleston, and that’s the one we go to these days. There’s also a High Cotton in Greenville, South Carolina and we enjoyed going there when we lived in the Upstate. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate or to just enjoy a wonderful meal with Lowcountry flair, check out High Cotton.
We’ve tried every meal they offer: dinner, Sunday brunch, and Saturday lunch. They’re all good, from service to food to atmosphere. Here in Charleston, High Cotton is located on East Bay Street and it has a great “Charleston” feel. The bread comes out in beautiful sweetgrass baskets (hmmmm…..wonder how many of those get “lost” each shift?). We love sipping wine and cocktails while drinking in the decor (ha – couldn’t resist that pun). Richard loves the appetitizers and entrees (and of course so do I). But my true real love is the desserts (no surprise there). The pecan pie with ice cream – oh, how can I resist? I don’t.
